This short film was my favorite project from the array of talent that our class put forth. Ana and Don took this film in a slightly different direction than the majority of the call, but it worked to their benefit in the end. The story centered around a penguin named Patrick Robinson, a Sophomore political science major at Elon. The film tells the story of Patrick and how he isn’t exactly fitting in at Elon.

I thought the interview scene with the roommate was very clever and I liked that fact that it was improved. The film incorporates a lot of good A-roll and B-roll by placing Patrick the penguin in different locations and settings all around campus. The things the penguin says during the video is actually kind of sad and drew several “aw’s” from the audience, including myself. I loved how Ana and Don really made the audience care about the character and gave him such life despite the fact that it was an inanimate object. Patrick says thoughtful things and is an intelligent character.  

I loved the clip of Patrick playing the DJ Hero video game. It was very clever to have someone move him out of the frame. He also watches movie, which happens to be Happy Feet, and enjoys time at the lake. All these little things really help to create his character and endear him to the audience. In one scene he covers his beak with his fins and is sad about missing home and how it hard to be away especially during the holidays. At one point his beak is smooshed up against the glass of the book store winter display, full of snow and snowflakes hanging from the ceiling. This setting worked out perfectly and I love the “look” on Patrick’s face.  One of the most clever things was the Skype conversation where his girlfriend is on the other end of the video call. Also at the end, the shot on the side walk where the camera is resting on the ground pointed about Patrick’s foot is great. They sped up the clip and had people walking by as Patrick remained stationary. It was a great technique to help wrap up the film.

Overall, out of all the really great work that our class has done, this is my favorite. Ana and Don did such a great job of capturing a specific character and making the audience love him, despite the fact that it was a stuffed animal.

This video is a about a famous Bollywood actor, who to say the lest, is crazy. He beats his assistant, proposes to the camera girl, and harasses the interviewer. We did not use any filters or effects except for the slug and cross dissolve in the very beginning. There are two texts slides. One type writer format for the opening title page and an upwards scrolling text for the credits page.

We had so much good footage to choose from, it almost made it hard to narrow down what was going to go into the actual movie. I loved making this film.

While editing I used several filters. To make it black and white I used a Color Correction and desaturated every frame. There also are several dross dissolves. The also are two POV instances, one of which fades out using a vignette and a dissolve.

I really enjoyed this project. It may be my favorite so far.

I created this music video using Finalcut Pro. I really enjoyed this challenge. The song is great to begin with and the actors really had chemistry. This has been my favorite assignment thus far. I did not use any filter because I don’t like them. I feel the video speaks for itself without using any filters to distort the image.

The background I chose to start with on wordpress had a custom-header option. I used ChoaticSoul. I found that the size of the banner was 760 x 151 pixels. I entered those dimensions into Photoshop and went from there.

Using photoshop I edited out the red on the bottle top of the white nail polish. There also was a white smudge on the bottom of the front of the bottle in the upper right hand area. I used the cloning tool to edit out both. I also created the OPI logo and put in a lens flare to accent it.

I really enjoyed this shoot. All I used was a Refa Light and a black backdrop. I played with the light by placing it at a lot of different highs and distances from the product. I awas afraid of the glare on the bottles but it all worked out in the end. I felt that the black allowed the colors to really pop and the dimonds to shine. I wanted to create a feeling of luxury using the dimonds to accent the nailpolish. I tried alot of different ways of setting up the nail polishing using a plethoria of props but I like the diamonds the best.
